If you’ve Googled “invisible fence cost” you’ve probably found a wide range of numbers and not a lot of clarity. Some sites quote $200 DIY kits. Others mention $5,000+ installations without explaining what you get. Here’s an honest, detailed breakdown of what a professionally installed invisible fence costs in Ontario in 2026.

What Can Change the Price?
The packages above are starting prices for a single dog on a typical property. Here are the main factors that can move the number up:
- Extra wire: 500 feet is included. Additional wire is $0.80 per foot. Most suburban lots need 300–600 feet total, so many homeowners stay within the included amount.
- Additional dogs: Each dog needs their own collar. An additional EcoLite collar is $495. An additional LINK collar is $645.
- Exclusion zones: Want to keep your dog out of the garden or away from the pool? Garden loops start at $75 each.
- Indoor units: Need to block off a room or keep your dog away from the front door? Indoor transmitters are $225.
- Distance surcharges: If your property is 1–2 hours from our base, there’s a $100 surcharge. Over 2 hours adds $200.
What About DIY Kits?
You can buy invisible fence kits online for $200 to $500. They include a basic transmitter, wire, and a collar. What they don’t include:
- Professional wire burial (you’ll need to trench your own yard)
- Custom layout design based on your property
- Professional training for your dog
- Ongoing support when something goes wrong
- A containment guarantee
The equipment in DIY kits is also lower quality: shorter battery life, fewer correction levels, and no safety features like the SafetyStop® 20-second correction limit that prevents collar cycling.
How It Compares to Physical Fencing
A professionally installed wood or vinyl privacy fence in Ontario typically costs significantly more than an invisible fence, especially for larger properties where material and labour costs scale with every linear foot. An invisible fence costs roughly the same regardless of yard size (the main variable is wire length, at $0.80/foot beyond the included 500 feet).
Physical fences also require municipal permits in most Ontario cities, may be subject to height restrictions and setback rules, and can block sightlines and change the look of your property. An invisible fence is completely hidden.
No Monthly Fees, No Deposit
Unlike GPS-based systems that charge $15–$25/month, our system has zero ongoing fees. And we don’t require a deposit. You can pay in full on installation day, or split it into 4 equal payments over 3 months with no interest.
What About Long-Term Costs?
Our systems are built to last. The boundary wire is 16-gauge copper-clad steel with a 30+ year lifespan. Transmitters and collars last 20 years with proper care. The rechargeable collar eliminates ongoing battery costs. And the UltraCare warranty covers equipment for its lifetime, with a 20% deductible on replacements.
The most common maintenance cost is a wire break repair at $135 for a basic service call. Wire breaks only happen if work has been done on the property (digging, landscaping, tree removal) without taking the wire location into account. As long as you let the utility crew or landscaper know the wire is there, they can work around it. You can also use the collar to locate the wire path exactly.
